AstraZeneca Receives FDA Approval for Lynparza in BRCA-Mutated Pancreatic Cancer

AstraZeneca and Merck announce FDA approval of Lynparza (olaparib) as maintenance treatment for adults with germline BRCA-mutated metastatic pancreatic cancer.

AstraZeneca and Merck today announced that the FDA has approved Lynparza (olaparib) as maintenance treatment for adults with deleterious or suspected deleterious germline BRCA-mutated metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma whose disease has not progressed on at least 16 weeks of a first-line platinum-based chemotherapy regimen. In the Phase 3 POLO trial, Lynparza demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in progression-free survival compared to placebo. The median PFS was 7.4 months for Lynparza versus 3.8 months for placebo. This approval provides patients with BRCA-mutated pancreatic cancer a new maintenance treatment option.
