Novo Nordisk Announces Positive Phase 3 FLOW Trial Results for Ozempic in Chronic Kidney Disease

Novo Nordisk reports positive Phase 3 FLOW trial results showing semaglutide reduces kidney disease progression and cardiovascular events in patients with type 2 diabetes and CKD.

Novo Nordisk today announced positive results from the Phase 3 FLOW trial evaluating semaglutide 1.0 mg in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant reduction in the composite of major kidney disease events and cardiovascular death. Semaglutide reduced the risk of the primary composite endpoint by 24% compared to placebo. The trial was stopped early due to the overwhelming efficacy of semaglutide. These results led to FDA approval of Ozempic for reducing the risk of kidney disease progression in adults with type 2 diabetes and CKD.
