Pfizer Announces Updated Paxlovid Label Including New Patient Populations

Pfizer today announced that the FDA has approved an updated label for Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) that expands the eligible patient populations for COVID-19 treatment. The updated label includes patients aged 12 years and older weighing at least 40 kg who are at high risk for progression to severe COVID-19. The update also includes new guidance on drug interactions and dosing adjustments for patients with renal impairment. Paxlovid remains the most widely prescribed oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19. Pfizer continues to monitor the effectiveness of Paxlovid against emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants.
