AstraZeneca Receives FDA Approval for Imfinzi in Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer
AstraZeneca announces FDA approval of Imfinzi (durvalumab) plus chemotherapy for adults with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer.
AstraZeneca today announced that the FDA has approved Imfinzi (durvalumab) in combination with etoposide and either carboplatin or cisplatin as first-line treatment for adults with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). In the Phase 3 CASPIAN trial, Imfinzi plus chemotherapy demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in overall survival compared to chemotherapy alone. The median OS was 12.9 months for Imfinzi plus chemotherapy versus 10.5 months for chemotherapy alone. This approval provides patients with ES-SCLC a new first-line treatment option combining immunotherapy with standard chemotherapy.
