Merck Presents Real-World Data on Carbapenem-Resistant Infections Treatment Outcomes

Merck today presented real-world evidence from a multicenter retrospective study showing improved clinical outcomes with novel antibiotics in patients with carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacterial infections. The study included over 500 patients treated at major academic medical centers and demonstrated significantly lower 30-day mortality rates with newer antibiotic regimens compared to older polymyxin-based therapies. Antimicrobial resistance remains a major global health threat, and these real-world data support the use of newer antibiotics as preferred treatment options for carbapenem-resistant infections.
