Eli Lilly Announces Positive Phase 3 SUMMIT Results for Tirzepatide in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction

Eli Lilly reports positive Phase 3 SUMMIT trial results for tirzepatide in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and obesity.

Eli Lilly and Company today announced positive results from the Phase 3 SUMMIT trial evaluating tirzepatide in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) and obesity. The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant reduction in the composite of cardiovascular death or worsening heart failure events compared to placebo. Tirzepatide also significantly improved exercise capacity, quality of life, and body weight in these patients. These results support the potential of tirzepatide as a treatment for HFpEF, a condition with very limited treatment options. Lilly plans to submit regulatory applications for tirzepatide in HFpEF.
