Merck Receives FDA Approval for Winrevair in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

Merck announces FDA approval of Winrevair (sotatercept-csrk) for adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension, the first activin signaling inhibitor approved for this condition.

Merck today announced that the FDA has approved Winrevair (sotatercept-csrk) for the treatment of adults with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Winrevair is the first activin signaling inhibitor approved for PAH and represents a new mechanism of action for this serious condition. In the Phase 3 STELLAR trial, Winrevair demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in the 6-minute walk distance of 40.8 meters compared to placebo. Additionally, Winrevair significantly reduced the risk of clinical worsening events by 84% compared to placebo. PAH is a rare, progressive disease affecting the blood vessels in the lungs, and this approval provides patients with a new treatment option.
