Novartis Announces Positive Phase 3 Results for Iptacopan in C3 Glomerulopathy

Novartis today announced positive results from the Phase 3 APPEAR-C3G trial evaluating iptacopan in patients with C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), a rare kidney disease. The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant 35.1% reduction in proteinuria compared to placebo at 6 months. Iptacopan is an oral proximal complement inhibitor that targets Factor B, a key component of the alternative complement pathway. C3G is a rare, progressive kidney disease with no approved therapies, making this a significant unmet medical need. Novartis plans to submit regulatory applications for iptacopan in C3G based on these results.
