Novartis Reports Phase 3 APPEAR-C3G Results for Iptacopan in C3 Glomerulopathy

Novartis announces Phase 3 APPEAR-C3G trial results for iptacopan in patients with C3 glomerulopathy, demonstrating significant reduction in proteinuria.

Novartis today announced results from the Phase 3 APPEAR-C3G trial evaluating iptacopan in patients with C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), a rare complement-mediated kidney disease. The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant reduction in proteinuria compared to placebo. Iptacopan is an oral proximal complement inhibitor targeting factor B of the alternative complement pathway, which is dysregulated in C3G. These results support iptacopan as a potential first targeted therapy for C3G, a disease with no approved treatments.
