Vertex announces Phase 2 trial results for pozetaciclib, a CDK2 inhibitor, in patients with polycythemia vera who are resistant or intolerant to hydroxyurea.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals today announced Phase 2 trial results for pozetaciclib in patients with polycythemia vera (PV) who are resistant or intolerant to hydroxyurea. The trial demonstrated a hematocrit control rate of 60% with a significant reduction in JAK2 V617F allele burden. Pozetaciclib is a selective CDK2 inhibitor that targets the abnormal cell proliferation in PV. These results support further development of pozetaciclib in PV and potentially other myeloproliferative neoplasms.
