AbbVie Reports Phase 3 Results for Emraclidine in Schizophrenia

AbbVie announces Phase 3 EMPOWER-1 trial results showing emraclidine significantly reduced PANSS total score in patients with schizophrenia.

AbbVie today announced results from the Phase 3 EMPOWER-1 trial evaluating emraclidine, a selective M4 muscarinic receptor positive allosteric modulator, in patients with schizophrenia. Emraclidine demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in PANSS total score at week 6 compared to placebo. Importantly, emraclidine showed no weight gain, metabolic effects, or extrapyramidal symptoms, differentiating it from existing antipsychotics. These results support emraclidine as a potential breakthrough treatment for schizophrenia with a novel mechanism of action and improved tolerability profile.
