AbbVie Announces Positive Phase 3 SELECT-SLE 1 Results for Rinvoq in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

AbbVie reports positive Phase 3 SELECT-SLE 1 trial results for upadacitinib (Rinvoq) in adults with moderately to severely active systemic lupus erythematosus.

AbbVie today announced positive results from the Phase 3 SELECT-SLE 1 trial evaluating upadacitinib (Rinvoq) in adults with moderately to severely active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The trial met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a statistically significant improvement in the SLE Responder Index-4 (SRI-4) response rate compared to placebo at week 48. Upadacitinib is an oral JAK1 inhibitor that targets the JAK-STAT signaling pathway involved in SLE pathogenesis. These results support the potential of upadacitinib as a new oral treatment option for patients with SLE. AbbVie plans to submit regulatory applications based on these results.
