AstraZeneca Receives FDA Approval for Lynparza in BRCA-Mutated Metastatic Prostate Cancer

AstraZeneca and Merck announce FDA approval of Lynparza (olaparib) plus abiraterone for BRCA-mutated metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.

AstraZeneca and Merck today announced that the FDA has approved Lynparza (olaparib) in combination with abiraterone and prednisone or prednisolone for adults with BRCA-mutated metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). In the Phase 3 PROpel trial, the combination demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in radiographic progression-free survival compared to abiraterone alone in the overall population. In the BRCA-mutated subgroup, the median rPFS was 27.6 months for Lynparza plus abiraterone versus 16.4 months for abiraterone alone. This approval provides patients with BRCA-mutated mCRPC a new combination treatment option.
