Gilead Sciences Announces Phase 3 Comparison of Biktarvy vs Long-Acting Injectable HIV Therapy

Gilead Sciences today announced results from a Phase 3 trial comparing daily oral Biktarvy (bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide) to long-acting injectable cabotegravir plus rilpivirine in virologically suppressed patients with HIV. The trial demonstrated that both regimens maintained high rates of viral suppression at 48 weeks, with 93% for Biktarvy and 91% for long-acting injectable therapy. Patient preference data showed that 45% preferred daily oral therapy and 55% preferred long-acting injectable therapy. These results provide important information for treatment decision-making in HIV management.
