Merck Reports Phase 3 Results for Once-Weekly Islatravir Plus Lenacapavir in HIV Treatment

Merck announces Phase 3 trial results showing once-weekly oral islatravir plus lenacapavir maintained virologic suppression in adults with HIV-1.

Merck today announced results from the Phase 3 MK-8591A-051 trial evaluating once-weekly oral islatravir plus lenacapavir for the treatment of HIV-1 in virologically suppressed adults. At 48 weeks, 91% of patients maintained HIV-1 RNA below 50 copies/mL, demonstrating non-inferiority to daily oral regimens. The once-weekly dosing regimen was well-tolerated with a favorable safety profile. These results support the potential of once-weekly oral HIV treatment to improve adherence and quality of life for people living with HIV.
