Merck Announces Phase 3 Results for Keytruda Plus Chemotherapy in PD-L1-Low NSCLC

Merck today announced results from the Phase 3 KEYNOTE-789 trial evaluating KEYTRUDA (pembrolizumab) plus chemotherapy in patients with PD-L1-low non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who progressed on EGFR-targeted therapy. The trial did not meet its primary endpoints of overall survival and progression-free survival compared to chemotherapy alone. These results suggest that the addition of pembrolizumab to chemotherapy does not provide additional benefit in this specific patient population. Merck will continue to analyze the data and explore other treatment approaches for patients with EGFR-mutated NSCLC who progress on targeted therapy.
