Pfizer today announced long-term data showing that Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) reduces the risk of long COVID symptoms in high-risk adults. The analysis, conducted across multiple healthcare systems, demonstrated a 26% reduction in the risk of post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 (PASC) in patients who received Paxlovid within five days of symptom onset. These findings suggest that early antiviral treatment may help prevent the development of long COVID, providing additional rationale for early treatment with Paxlovid in high-risk individuals.
