Pfizer today announced Phase 2 results for danuglipron, an oral GLP-1 receptor agonist, in adults with obesity. The trial demonstrated a mean weight reduction of 11.7% from baseline at 32 weeks compared to 2.8% for placebo. Danuglipron is a small molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist that can be taken orally, potentially offering a more convenient alternative to injectable GLP-1 therapies. The safety profile was consistent with the known effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists, with gastrointestinal side effects being the most common adverse events. Pfizer is evaluating the optimal dose and formulation for further development.
