Roche Announces Phase 3 VERONA Trial Results for Venetoclax in AML Combination

Roche reports Phase 3 VERONA trial results for venetoclax plus azacitidine versus intensive chemotherapy in newly diagnosed AML patients eligible for intensive therapy.

Roche today announced results from the Phase 3 VERONA trial evaluating venetoclax plus azacitidine versus intensive chemotherapy in newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients who are eligible for intensive therapy. The trial did not meet its primary endpoint of overall survival compared to intensive chemotherapy in the overall population. However, in the subgroup of patients with IDH1/2 mutations, venetoclax plus azacitidine showed a trend toward improved outcomes. Roche will continue to analyze the data to identify patient subgroups that may benefit from this combination. The company remains committed to advancing treatment options for AML.
